Charlton Athletic Set To Land Another Brilliant, Sensational Star Report Claims.
Charlton Athletic are set to complete the signing of goalkeeper Prince Adegoke on a free transfer following his release in the summer, according to journalist Nathan Gissing.
The 19-year-old was released by Premier League giants Chelsea this summer, following a rise through their academy and now appears to be heading to the League One side this summer.
Who is Prince Adegoke?
The shot-stopper has spent almost his entire career at Chelsea, continuously progressing through the club’s youth set-up. Last summer, Adegoke joined National League South side Welling United on a two-month loan deal, as a way to earn men’s first-team experience.
A tough start
Charlton Athletic began the 2023/24 season with a 1-0 victory at home to League Two champions Leyton Orient, with George Dobson netting the only goal. The club were then beaten 3-1 by Newport County in the EFL Cup, before slipping to a 1-0 loss against Peterborough United at the weekend.
Dean Holden’s side will be plotting a victory in mid-week, when they host Bristol Rovers and then Port Vale on Saturday.
What’s been said?
According to journalist Nathan Gissing, the goalkeeper is expected to join the League One side on a free transfer in the coming days. In a tweet posted to Twitter, Gissing stated…
‘Goalkeeper Prince Adegoke is set to join League One side Charlton Athletic on a free transfer following his release from Chelsea earlier this summer. Adegoke has signed a one-year contract with the option for a further year.’
Writer’s View
It appears as though Adogoke would link up with the club’s U21s initially due to his lack of first-team experience, however, he would have the perfect opportunity to develop at the League One side.
Charlton have a strong relationship with Chelsea, especially with success stories like Ian Maatsen and I believe this is a move that would work out for all parties involved in the deal.
