Huddersfield Town will look to return to winning ways when facing Millwall
Huddersfield Town defender Michal Helik is anticipating a response from his team as they face Millwall tomorrow. The Terriers head into the clash at the Den after a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Preston North End, ending their four-match unbeaten run.
Helik acknowledged the subpar performance in their last outing and is now focused on rebounding against a Millwall side also seeking to distance themselves from the relegation zone. Reflecting on the defeat, he expressed disappointment and frustration within the team, emphasizing the desire to showcase a reaction in the upcoming game.
The defender stated that everyone in the dressing room is upset about the previous game and recognizes the need to take responsibility for the result. After a team meeting to address shortcomings, Helik emphasized the commitment to showing a positive response, especially considering the difficulty of conceding three goals at home.
Huddersfield Town has faced challenges this season, currently sitting fourth from the bottom in the championship. Helik acknowledged the pressure to secure more wins quickly, emphasizing the collective responsibility of the team to perform better.
Tomorrow’s opponents, Millwall, are just one place above Huddersfield in the table, and Helik expects a tough match at the Den. He stressed the importance of every game and the need to fight for results, highlighting the upcoming fixture as a chance to bounce back and initiate a positive run for the team, drawing inspiration from their past successes after facing Millwall last season.

Jonathan Hogg makes Huddersfield Town’s retirement vow
The 35-year-old Huddersfield Town captain is still playing an important role at the club
Huddersfield Town captain Jonathan Hogg insists he’s “not stopping any time soon” as the midfielder continues to play an important role in the Terriers’ side. Hogg is currently in his 11th season at the club, with the 35-year-old having made more than 300 league appearances for the Terriers since his move from Watford in 2013.
The midfielder remains a regular in Town’s side, making his 19th appearance of the season against Preston North End on Tuesday, and the skipper is eager to keep playing for as long as possible. “I get asked it quite a lot, actually. What are you going to do (after your playing career ends)? When are you going to finish? I’ve never really thought about it,” Hogg said at a recent press conference.
“Most people do at this age, but I just want to keep going while I’m enjoying it and still playing. I certainly just want to keep enjoying it and keep going for as long as I can. It probably has (his game has adapted during his time at the club). Probably when I was a lot younger, I’d class myself more as a box-to-box [midfielder], but now it’s normally playing in a bit of a deeper role as a six, which is still fantastic.
“As long as I’m getting out on the field and I’m still enjoying it, I’m going to keep going. I’m not stopping any time soon.”
With Hogg having now passed the ten-season mark, the midfielder revealed that the club is planning to hold a testimonial game for him at some stage.
“It has been spoken about,” the skipper said. “The club wants me to do it; I want to do it, so I will do one, but when I don’t know.”
Hogg’s contract expires in the summer, and the 35-year-old expects to speak with the club about his future in the New Year but expressed a desire to stay for longer should the Terriers wish to retain him.
“I think things will just fall into place (regarding talks over a new deal),” the skipper said. “We haven’t sat down and spoken about it yet; we’ll probably get over Christmas and into January, and then we’ll probably sit down and have a chat, and we’ll go from there.
“I don’t want to finish any time soon, so it’ll probably be down to the club whether they see me involved in their plans. I want to be here and [hopefully] the club still wants me here, so we’ll sit down probably in January and have a chat.”
