Hull City are planning on bolstering their attacking options in the January transfer window
Manager Liam Rosenior said nothing about a possible January transfer for Ryan Kent, a winger for Fenerbache. As they look to bolster their promotion push, Hull Live understands that the Tigers are interested in signing the former Rangers and Liverpool players.
Having watched a deal to sign Keinan Davis fall through in the last days of the summer window when he decided to move to Udinese, Rosenior wants to bolster their attacking firepower. Since joining the Turkish powerhouses last summer, Kent has found it difficult to have an influence.
The player, who is currently on a trip to Middlesbrough with his team, said, “For me, I don’t comment on other players at other clubs.” “I concentrate on the tasks at hand. I concentrate on my squad’s bodies. We have a plan and we know what we want.
“I’ve never done it and I won’t start now, speaking about individual players at other clubs.”
Rosenior stressed that City is “working really hard” behind the scenes to give themselves the “best opportunity” to be successful this season. As well as the transfer window to look forward to next month, the Tigers will face Birmingham City in the FA Cup third round.
It is not a tie that will capture the imagination of either set of supporters, but the competition will always hold a special place in Rosenior’s heart. He has no shortage of FA Cup heritage, with City having been in the squad that famously got to the Wembley final in 2014 and he’s determined not to pass up an opportunity to progress.
The pair will do battle on Saturday, January 6, at the MKM Stadium and Rosenior is keen to grasp the chance to not only give his players valuable minutes but also swell the club’s coffers early in the transfer window. And having been beaten at this stage last season by former Tigers boss Marco Silva and Fulham, and then the embarrassment of a dispiriting Carabao Cup loss to Doncaster Rovers in August, Rosenior will be desperate to not make it three early exits in a row.
Rosenior told Hull Live: “The FA Cup is an unbelievable competition, and for that reason, you don’t know who you’re going to get. We’ve got a home tie against a team in our league. It’s a great opportunity for us to push through. I want to go on a cup run. So for me, Birmingham is probably looking at it in exactly the same way.
“But for us, we’re at home. I want to go on a really good run, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. I think we had another six games before that.
“Financially, it’s important, but I think for me, success brings rewards. I want to go on a run because I’ve got a really good squad of players that I want to keep sharp and keep fit and winning in the first few rounds of the FA Cup is a great thing for us.
“I think when we got to the FA Cup final with me here (as a player), we started at Middlesbrough and everyone said it was a terrible draw. We ended up in the cup final. I’m not saying that’s going to happen again, but you have to take each game as it comes and we’ll see where it takes us.”
