Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has weighed in on Sunderland’s decision to fire head coach Tony Mowbray.

The 60-year-old was fired one week ago, before of the Championship match between Sunderland and Leeds United at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.

“Well, it tells you a lot about this club,” stated Farke before the game. “They are in the top six, and although they were close to the top six a week ago, they parted ways with Tony Mowbray, a fairly experienced manager at this level.”

“It reveals a lot about this club’s expectations and where they want to finish.” It implies that when you have an away game against an opponent in the top six who is still unhappy with their position, it is undoubtedly one of the most difficult challenges in this league, and we are completely aware of it.

“We’ve also demonstrated that we can be there at away games with top performances and top results against the best opponents in this league, and for that we travel with respect but also fully convinced of our strength, and we expect another tight and competitive game.”

“It will be similar to the last away game at Blackburn, for example.” So, Sunderland is a young, active, exciting team with a lot of skill and a club with high expectations, and we have to be ready and prepared to give ourselves a chance to win the next one.”
