Millwall get a double injury boost ahead of Coventry: Coventry City forward makes significant progress in his injury comeback…

Millwall gain a double injury boost ahead of Coventry, with a summer signing returning to training.

Millwall manager Joe Edwards has stated that summer addition Matija Sarkic is eligible for selection against Coventry City this weekend in the Championship.

The goalkeeper, 26, joined the Lions from Wolves in the summer but has been out with a quad injury since the 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

Bartosz Biakowski, 36, has started the past 11 second-tier games and played the entire 90 minutes in Edwards’ debut game in charge, a 4-0 triumph at Sheffield Wednesday.

“Matija is back in and has been training for the last couple of weeks,” Edwards said to the South London Press.

“He’s in contention for selection this weekend.”

Attacker Duncan Watmore has been missing since the 2-2 draw at home to Hull, where he scored the opener, due to a hamstring injury he picked up during the game.

The former Everton assistant added: “Duncan had been out, but on the first day that we arrived last week, it was his first day back into training.

“He trained in the week leading into the Sheffield Wednesday game, but he just ran out of time in terms of being fully fit to go into the squad.

“He has trained every day since the Sheffield Wednesday game, and he’s in contention to play.”

Left-back Joe Bryan has been absent since he picked up a groin injury in the 2-1 defeat at home to Blackburn on October 24.

“Joe is progressing—he’s out on the grass,” said Edwards.

“But he is progressing fairly slowly. It’s a muscle injury, so you have to be careful. Joe has had injuries in the past, so he’s being cautious with them.

“He won’t be seeing him for the next few weeks, but he will be stepping up his rehab on the grass.”

Kasey Palmer is back on the turf for Coventry City as he continues his injury comeback.

Coventry City have had a difficult season thus far, losing important players in the summer and having more players unavailable due to injuries. With the conclusion of the international break approaching, the expectation is that the clouds will begin to lift on that front.

Prior to the break, manager Mark Robins stated that injured offensive midfielder Palmer would be able to return to training in the week leading up to the Millwall game. With the Lions on the horizon this weekend, new information about the Jamaican international’s recuperation has emerged.

Coventry City have shared pictures of Palmer back outside, welcoming him back to training after an extended absence due to a hamstring injury.

Back on the grass

Coventry City will now look to ease Palmer back into training, and hopefully it won’t be long before he’s back in contention for championship action. Millwall may well come too soon if the Sky Blues want to remain cautious with his recovery, but this marks a welcome step forward for both the team and the player.

The Sky Blues have really struggled this season, leaving them 20th in the championship table. Hopefully, the nearing return of Palmer can add some creativity and some extra potency going forward.

Palmer will be an option for the Robins out wide or through the middle, either as an attacking midfielder or slightly closer to the striker.
