The knee injury suffered by the Warriors star will be reassessed later this week…

The Warriors confirmed on Wednesday that Steph Curry would not be playing against the Thunder on Thursday night. Curry does not have a structural injury, and his time on the bench is anticipated to be brief.

Curry’s right knee is sore as a result of severe contact with the court late in Sunday’s loss. On Tuesday, he had an MRI. Curry will miss his second game because of this injury on Thursday. The Warriors fell to 6-6 after a four-game losing run against the Timberwolves on Tuesday, losing 104-101.

The absence of Curry, the Warriors’ leading scorer and an early-season MVP candidate, stymies the Dubs’ offense. Yet after Tuesday’s game, the Warriors have a better net rating (points per 100 possessions) without Curry on the floor this season, thanks to strong defensive play.

Without Curry on the court, the Warriors’ net rating was minus -2.34 points per 100 possessions the previous season. When he played, the Warriors were plus-5.74. When Curry is on the court, the Warriors’ net rating over the previous three seasons is plus-7.22. Golden State is minus-0.89 and has a 21-23 record when he isn’t in the lineup.

With 23 points, the highest of any non-Curry Warriors player this season, youngster Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors in scoring on Tuesday in Curry’s absence. Following Tuesday’s contest, Warriors coach Steve Kerr pledged that Podziemski, the team’s first-round selection in the most recent NBA Draft, will establish himself as a mainstay in the rotation. It will be certain that Kerr won’t have any trouble finding rookie minutes after another game without Curry.

Curry may not be the only Warriors star to miss the game, as Draymond Green is likely to face a suspension after placing Wolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold during an altercation Tuesday night.
