Alan Shearer names the Wolves player he thought was ‘brilliant’ in 2-1 win over Tottenham

Alan Shearer has praised Pablo Sarabia for his superb cameo against Tottenham Hotspur, and selected the Wolves forward in his latest Premier League Team of the Week.

Wolves bounced back from the frustrating 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United by coming from behind to beat Spurs at Molineux. After going behind early on to a goal from Brennan Johnson, Sarabia took centre stage at the end for Wolves.

Shortly after coming on, he scored a sublime equaliser after a great ball from Matheus Cunha.

He then threaded a perfect through ball for Mario Lemina to score a 97th-minute winner for Wolves.

 

It was a deserved victory and Premier League legend Shearer has now acknowledged Sarabia’s impact…

Sarabia has seen very little game time so far this season.

But after seeing the ‘unbelievable’ star train really well last week, O’Neil decided to get him on for the closing stages against Spurs.

It paid dividends for Wolves, with Sarabia’s goal of the highest quality. Pundit Joe Cole said after the game that ‘only quality players’ can do what he did.

Now, Sarabia has come in for a bit of acknowledgment from Shearer, who has selected the player in his latest Premier League Team of the Week.

 

He said of the Spaniard (official Premier League): “What an impact! Produced a brilliant equaliser and created the winner.”

Shearer was not the only pundit to include Sarabia in his latest Team of the Week. BBC Sport’s Garth Crooks also selected the 31-year-old, and described his goal as ‘memorable’.

Sarabia offered reminder of his quality vs Spurs

All the talk this season at Wolves has been about Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-chan. The duo have been absolutely superb for Gary O’Neil, who’s rarely deviated away from them in the wide areas.

 

It has meant Sarabia has not featured very much at all.

 

But on Saturday he provided a reminder of what a talented player he is.

 

It hasn’t really worked out for him so far at Molineux. Perhaps he just hasn’t yet found his most effective position. or maybe he is still getting used to English football.

 

His goal and assist against Spurs just show he has plenty to offer and is definitely someone worth keeping hold of.
