Toulon balks at Kyle Sinckler’s wage requests
Toulon are reported to be unwilling to meet the wage demands of Bristol Bears’ tighthead prop Kyle Sinckler, who is keen on a move to the French Top 14 at the conclusion of his current deal with the West Country side at the end of the season.
Sinckler, 30, has 68 caps for England and is a British and Irish Lion, but The Rugby Paper reports the Toulon hierarchy is not willing to meet the €500k a season wages Sinckler is seeking, with negotiations ongoing.
Falcons star Carreras set for Bayonne move
Newcastle Falcons are set to lose star Argentina winger Mateo Carreras, who is reported to have agreed to a three-year deal to move to French Top 14 side Bayonne in the summer.
Bayonne have beaten Toulon to complete the signing of the 17-cap international, reports The Rugby Paper as well as sources across the Channel.
Bath coach departs to join RFU
Former Bath Rugby prop Nathan Catt will leave his role as the club’s Academy Pathway Coach to take up the position of England Pathway Scrum Coach at the RFU.
Catt, who was forced to retire early due to injury after making 170 appearances in the Blue, Black, and White, has spent three years working with the Bath Rugby Academy, working closely with Beechen Cliff School, where Bath Rugby runs the ACE program.
Head of Bath Rugby’s Academy, Craig Lilley, said: “Nathan Catt’s departure from Bath Rugby marks the transition of an exceptional individual whose contribution to our academy and the club as a whole has been invaluable. His dedication to nurturing the talent of our younger players and providing them with invaluable experiences has left a lasting mark on our program. While his departure is bittersweet, it’s a testament to his exceptional abilities that he has been selected for the prestigious position with the RFU. We are immensely proud of Catty and grateful for his commitment to Bath Rugby. His influence and guidance will be sorely missed, but we wish him the very best in his new role, knowing that he will continue to make a significant impact on the development of players in the national setup.”
