‘Very Important’: £29m Wolves Star Issues ‘Dressing Room’ Claim About Gary O’Neil
Nelson Semedo drops ‘dressing room’ claim about Wolves boss Gary O’Neil
Nelson Semedo has revealed Gary O’Neil is a very popular figure at Molineux and that all the Wolves players in the dressing room like him.
O’Neil has enjoyed a good start to life at the club, after coming in just days before the start of the new season.
O’Neil was hired after Wolves interviewed a few candidates following the departure of Julen Lopetegui. He apparently really impressed with his presentation and was the standout individual.
So far, he has given a solid account of himself.
He has Wolves sitting in 14th place, having taken 12 points from 11 Premier League games.
That tally should undoubtedly be higher, but Wolves have inexplicably been on the end of at least three incorrect decisions that have cost points.
Despite this, the Wolves dressing room is buoyant and Nelson Semedo has been speaking about O’Neil after three months working under him…
Nelson Semedo says all the Wolves players really like Gary O’Neil
There was real potential for things to go south after Lopetegui’s exit.
The Spaniard’s departure was a little messy, and the players could have been forgiven for feeling down about it. Ultimately, he did a really good job at Molineux.
But O’Neil has come in and got the players to buy into him, and it looks as though he’s really resonated with them.
Semedo said (Express & Star): “Everybody is happy because he’s a great coach and a great person. Everybody in the dressing room likes him, so it was very important for all of us that he came.
“We are improving week after week with his ideas and his staff’s ideas as well. We like having him a lot.”
Encouraging comments from Semedo
It is good to hear this from £29 million signing Semedo, and you can tell that the players do really like playing under O’Neil.
It is perhaps no surprise really. When he first came in, sporting director Matt Hobbs did talk up his man-management skills.
For the most part this season, the performances have been good from Wolves. The pressing and work rate has been impressive, which is always an indicator that players like who is in charge.
The mood in the dressing room would probably be even better had Wolves gotten the rub of the green this season.
Hopefully, the 40-year-old can continue to engage the players and keep team spirit high. Things are certainly tougher than they need to be at the moment with the decisions that are going against the club.
