Newcastle Release Statement Condemning Racist Abuse Aimed AtAnd Joe Willock After Win Over Arsenal
Newcastle have condemned the racist abuse sent to stars and Joe Willock following their win over Arsenal.

Both Magpies stars received the abuse on social media.

 

The club’s statement read: “Newcastle United strongly condemns racist abuse sent to Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock via social media following Saturday’s victory over Arsenal.

 

“Our message is clear. There is no room for racism in football or society.

 

“We are providing support to Bruno and Joe and will work with relevant authorities and social media platforms to identify those responsible so that they can be held to account.”

 

Willock posted screenshots of the abuse he was sent on his Instagram account on to his story.

Both stars were targeted after their win on Saturday

Both screenshots show messages featuring racial slurs.

 

“It’s a game off football mate no need for this,” Willock wrote on the story.

 

He then reposted a photo of Newcastle fans previously holding up a large banner reading ‘show racism the red card’.

 

Newcastle’s 1-0 victory at St James’ Park sparked debate due to the nature of Anthony Gordon’s winning goal in the second half.
