Bradford have loaned in former midfielder from National League North side Spennymoor Town…

Before joining the Bantams in 2017, Shanks played as a young player for Huddersfield Town.

In June 2020, he was included in League Football Education’s “The 11” list, which highlights some of the top academy players in the EFL at the moment.

In July 2020, Shanks signed a one-year contract with City to become a professional.
In September 2020, he made his senior debut for City against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Trophy. However, he left the Bantams in June 2021 at the end of his contract, and two months later, he returned to Huddersfield.

Shanks impressed the Nuneaton Borough management when he scored a goal and grabbed an assist in Huddersfield’s Under-21s’ cup game against Birmingham City, earning himself a loan move to the non-league side in September 2021.

He made an immediate impact at Nuneaton, winning the Player of the Month award there for his goals in both the Birmingham Senior Cup and the Southern League Central Premier Division.

On January 19, 2023, Shanks’ contract at Huddersfield was terminated, and he joined Spennymoor two days later.

In the 2022–2023 season, he made 20 appearances for the Moors, scoring a last-minute equalizer against Scarborough Athletic and on his debut against Darlington.

He signed a new contract at the North-East side over the summer, earning him an extended stay.

Shanks has made six appearances for Spennymoor this season; however, he is seeking more playing time, thus he signed a loan with Avenue.

The youthful midfielder is eligible to play against fellow struggling team Basford United this afternoon in Avenue’s Northern Premier League Premier Division match.
