Darren Moore openly acknowledges his desire to step onto the field and lead the Huddersfield defense in the West Yorkshire derby at Elland Road on Saturday. However, he readily settles for the next best option.
Nevertheless, the Huddersfield Town manager emphasizes the importance of professionalism among his players, even in the heightened atmosphere of a fierce local rivalry. This comes after their less than convincing performance in a four-goal defeat to Cardiff City on Tuesday evening.
When asked about special preparations for a derby game to motivate the players, Moore responds, “It’s not different because I believe that the fans and everyone living locally have reiterated the significance of this game for our football club, fan base, and staff within the club. We have staff members who work for Huddersfield Town but are also passionate fans of the club. I’ve heard this repeatedly over the past few days, so I understand the importance of the game. What I need to ensure is that we approach the game with the utmost professionalism.”
Moore goes on to express his personal desire to play in this particular game, given the intense rivalry, even though he is retired. He conveys that if he had to choose a match to participate in, it would be this one. However, he now enjoys the next best thing, which is being in the technical area and watching his team perform.
