Sunderland will be without Adil Aouchiche this weekend, as detailed on their official club website.
Sunderland is gearing up for a Championship match against Norwich City at the Stadium of Light after their recent 1-0 defeat away to league leaders Leicester City.
Unfortunately, Aouchiche, a 21-year-old player, was sidelined due to a minor muscle injury and missed the game at King Power Stadium. In the latest update provided by the club’s website, it’s confirmed that he won’t be available for the upcoming match against Norwich. On a more positive note, Bradley Dack and Eliezer Mayenda have resumed training, and Jewison Bennette is back from international duty. However, Aji Alese, Corry Evans, Timothée Pembélé, and Jay Matete remain sidelined.
Not having Aouchiche is a setback for Sunderland, as he contributes to the team’s depth and competition in attacking positions. Nevertheless, the club has other options in that role.
Aouchiche joined Sunderland during the summer transfer window, coming from PSG’s youth academy. Since his arrival, he has made seven appearances in various competitions for the North East club. Sunderland secured him with a five-year contract, with hopes that he would become a key player for the team in the future.
Aouchiche began his career at PSG and even made three first-team appearances as a young player, scoring a goal. In 2020, he left the French giants and had stints at Saint-Étienne and FC Lorient before embarking on a new chapter in his career in England, joining Sunderland in July.
Sunderland has an opportunity to bounce back with a win against Norwich on Saturday, with Tony Mowbray’s side currently just one point outside the playoff positions.
