Carlton Palmer delivers his assessment on Bradford City’s possible interest in Dean Holden to FLW.

iNews reports that the League Two team is considering the possibility of recruiting the former managers of Bristol City and Charlton Athletic for their club.

Bradford City is currently in the process of searching for a new manager after parting ways with Mark Hughes earlier this month.

Their objective this season is to compete for promotion back to League One, having narrowly missed out on it in the previous season. Currently, the team occupies the 15th position in the fourth division table, trailing the play-off positions by five points.

Is Dean Holden a suitable choice for Bradford City?

According to Carlton Palmer, Holden’s track record suggests that he would be a beneficial addition to the Bantams.

The former midfielder has dismissed concerns regarding Holden’s potential appointment and has emphasized the qualities he could bring to the club in pursuit of promotion.

“Dean Holden has been strongly linked with the vacant managerial position at Bradford City,” Palmer stated to Football League World.

“It is reported that the former Charlton boss is eager to take on the League Two job.

“Bradford City has received significant interest in the position and is evaluating several applicants who have expressed their interest.

“Their goal is promotion after falling short in the play-offs last season.

“They drew a crowd of 21,552 for their weekend game against Wrexham, ranking as the sixth largest attendance in the entire EFL, surpassing even some Premier League clubs.

“Some concerns have arisen about Bristol City and Charlton’s performance before Dean’s dismissal.

“I believe these concerns are unwarranted.

“At Bristol City, he managed 43 games, achieving 19 wins, five draws, and 19 losses, resulting in a win rate of 42 percent.

“And more recently at Charlton, he oversaw 32 games, securing 12 wins, five draws, and 15 defeats, with a win rate of 37.5 percent.

“Dean is known as an exceptional man manager who favors an attacking style of football.

“I believe his appointment would be a positive development for the club.”

Bradford has experienced a disappointing start to the season, currently lagging seven points behind the automatic promotion positions. Nevertheless, this gap can potentially be closed in the remaining months of the season.

Given the competitiveness of the promotion race this year, it is crucial for Bradford to select the right individual for the managerial role.

It is unlikely that a new manager will be in place in time for the upcoming match against Sutton United on October 28.
