It was revealed yesterday that Glen Rea, a mainstay on the Hatters team from 2016 until 2023, has joined Worthing.
I’m sure I’m not the only Luton Town supporter who finds it surprising that Glen has decided to continue his career in the National League South.
Like many others, I was confident that Glen would be signed by a team in League 1 or League 2, as his time at Kenilworth Road was coming to an end.
But given that Glen reportedly signed for Worthing without a contract, it’s possible that this is just a short-term arrangement until something better comes along.
Glen, during his time with the Hatters, made 174 league appearances, scoring on 7 occasions.
Unfortunately, his last few years with the club were blighted by a serious injury which saw him go out, on loan, to numerous clubs, including Woking, Wigan and Cheltenham.
With the news having broken, the Hatters support was quick to air their views on social media, with the following being typical of the high esteem the support had for Glen:
Absolute quality signing. Good luck Worthing, you have one hell of a player there. Glen played a massive part in the rise of Luton Town, and I’m sure he will do the same for you. Good luck Glenda 👏👏👏👏
