Southampton admits guilt after receiving an £8,000 fine for the Stoke City incident.

Sanctions have been imposed on Southampton and Stoke City by an independent Regulatory Commission after a hearing into both teams’ conduct during a match in October.

Both Southampton and Stoke City have been fined for their respective roles in the October Championship game.

At the beginning of the month, the two teams squared off at the bet365 Stadium, with Saints claiming all three points thanks to a free-kick by Stuart Armstrong that separated the two teams.

However, the Potters and Saints have both been fined £12,000 and £8,000 as a result of an incident in the 87th minute that resulted in three players receiving yellow cards.

The incident in question saw Flynn Downes win a free-kick but receive a booking for his reaction to the challenge, with Daniel Johnson and Mehdi Léris both also seeing yellow for their involvement in the altercation.
