Gillingham Star player’s appearance a positive on a very bad day.

Ike Orji makes Football League debut for Gillingham against Notts County, eight months after joining from Isthmian League side Chatham Town.

On Saturday, Ike Orji made his Football League debut for Gillingham off the bench and nearly started the game.

The former Chatham Town right-back’s participation was a plus in a disappointing Gills loss to Notts County at home.

The 19-year-old fullback has signed to terms with the Gills after passing all required medical exams. He will train with the team’s first-team squad during the week but will spend the rest of the season on loan with the Chats.

Ike made his professional debut at the age of 16, and in May 2022, he was named the “Young Player of the Year” by Chatham.

We are happy to have Ike join the team since it strengthens the existing bond between the two Football Clubs. We also wish Ike and Chatham well in the remaining league games.
