The head coach of Charlton Athletic delivers an update on the hiring process.
As the head coach of Charlton Athletic hunts for a first-team coach, Michael Appleton has acknowledged that the club is interested in achieving balance within his coaching staff.

Since Dean Holden was fired, Danny Senda and Glyn Shimell both resigned from their positions as assistant manager and goalie coach, respectively. Appleton has since replaced them with Richard O’Donnell and Stephen Henderson.

This Saturday, the Addicks play Reading and have not lost in any of their five games under Appleton since the former Blackpool manager took over.

For Appleton, “These things take time,” the South London Press was his source.

“From a club perspective, they strive to strike the appropriate balance.

We have a lot of young players going through the academy because it has been so successful, so the club just needs to make sure that the person has the correct mentality and experience before appointing them.
