Luton Boss unconcerned about ever having to fend off offers for his highest goal scorer.

After Carlton Morris’s performances in the Premier League thus far this season, Luton manager Rob Edwards is unconcerned about the possibility of having to fend off any bids for the striker, should they materialize.

With some dominant performances up front for the Hatters, where he has recently led the line alone, the 27-year-old has been one of Town’s key players to capture the attention in the top flight.

Top of the charts for aerial duels won, 44 to his name already, Morris has also bagged three goals as well, two from the penalty spot and one unerring finish in the 2-1 victory at Everton.

When asked if that might make it difficult to retain the former Rotherham and Norwich forward, who has scored 23 goals in 60 appearances for Luton, Edwards responded unfazed: “If we’re having that problem, then we’ve done something right.

It’s incredible. If we had told Carlton a year ago when we went into the club, “This is where we’re going to be, this is what you’re going to be doing,” he would have been overjoyed, and he should be quite proud of himself.

“But I know he’s hungry, and he wants more; he won’t stop here, for sure.

“What’s really pleasing with him at the moment is not just his goals, his performances are good.

“I’ve got people phoning me and saying ‘he’s good,’ while players after a game saying, ‘he’s at it, he’s difficult to play against.’”

Discussing his own efforts this term, Morris, who notched a season’s best 20 during Luton’s play-off winning campaign last term, continued: “I feel good, I’m making the right runs, I’m in the right areas, I’m doing the right things, I’m confident in my ability, I know exactly how good I am.

“We’ve learned our standard from last season needs to be higher.

“We demand from each other, that’s what a good squad does, demands in the right way and we demand high standards out of each other.”
