Luton Town Set To Add Former England International star player To Squad currently on trail.

It appears like the Hatters are going to bolster their roster with a veteran of the Premier League. Andros Townsend, a former England international, is reportedly on trial with Luton Town with the intention of landing a contract, according to a number of news outlets, including the Express.

Even though the transfer window may be closed, clubs are still free to sign uncontracted players, of whom Townsend is one.

Now 32-years-of-age, Townsend has not played a competitive match since an ACL injury back in March 2022, but his career is littered with appearances or a raft of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Everton.

On the international scene, Townsend has made 13 appearances for England.

Ahead of our fixture with Tottenham Hotspur, this afternoon, Rob Edwards has given a broad hint, as reported by our referenced source, that the player is about to become a Hatter, with Rob quoted as having remarked:
“There is room in the squad, we’ve only got 24, so there’s room for one more if we wanted to bring someone else in.

“He’s had a fantastic playing career, he’s still really, really keen, hungry to play, but it’s got to be right for him as well, for both parties. I’ve seen real signs of quality and what we’ve got to make sure is that if we’re going to add to the group, they can help us and make us better.”

That last sentence, in my opinion, is the key, with the main achievement, this season, being survival, if we are to bring in that 25th member to the squad, the limit in accordance with the regulations, it has to be someone who can improve the team, is Andros Townsend that man?
