Newcastle victory against Burnley as they also bags penalty, Clarets lose again

The majority of Eddie Howe’s best players were back in the starting lineup for Newcastle against Burnley at home.

For Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup victory over Manchester City, Howe rested 10 of the players who started the 8-0 thrashing of Sheffield United and added Jamaal Lascelles, Anthony Gordon, and Alexander Isak to the starting lineup in place of the injured Sven Botman, Harvey Barnes, and Callum Wilson.

In lieu of the injured Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Clarets manager Vincent Kompany made just one change to the team that fell to Manchester United 1-0 at home the previous Saturday. Sander Berge took his place.

With a thunderous goal in Newcastle United’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Burnley, Miguel Almiron got back on the scoresheet once more.
