JUST IN: ‘Anyone Who Plays Alongside Him’: Andy Walker Says Celtic Have A ‘Special’ Potential Star At The Club….

Andy Walker has joined the deserved praise that has been coming Daizen Maeda’s way this past week after his Celtic performance against Livingston.

Sometimes in what is perceived to be difficult moments, the best players step up and the big characters come to the table.

That’s what Daizen Maeda did when Brendan Rodgers, once again, watched his team go down to ten men, this time Joe Hart seeing red in the first half.

Despite that sending off and Celtic only being 1-0 up at the time, the Bhoys strolled to a 3-0 win, with Daizen Maeda getting his first goal of the campaign and Andy Walker describing him as a ‘special’ player, as he told Go Radio.

As Brendan Rodgers mentioned after the game, when you have a player of Daizen Maeda’s mindset and willingness, then you never ever feel you are down to ten men when there is a man sent off.

The performance of the Japan star even shocked and surprised one Livi player, as Sky presenter Gordon Duncan recently shared.

‘Special’ Daizen Maeda
“When you have someone like Daizen Maeda, who works his socks off, then you have got a special player there,” said Walker.

“Just his workrate, even when Celtic when down to ten men, it’s just so impressive. He is a real team player. Anyone who plays alongside him will just appreciate the effort that he puts in.

“He isn’t a glory hunter. He scored a fabulous goal, but he is very much a team player, that’s why he is appreciated. I think he is a special player.”

Now for more goals

The 25-year-old is another one of Ange Postecoglou’s signings that has thrived and been immense for the club since he joined.

But you always feel with Maeda that he has more goals in him and he can hit double figures in the league alone.

He netted eight last season, including 11 in all comps during the Treble-winning campaign, and here is hoping that he smashes those numbers this time around.
