New Huddersfield Town manager Darren Moore expects Josh Ruffels to be fit to return to action for Saturday’s tricky Championship encounter with in-form Ipswich Town
Huddersfield Town are optimistic Josh Ruffels will be fit to be involved in their forthcoming Championship clash with high-flying Ipswich Town. The versatile defender sat-out Monday’s draw at Coventry City due to a minor groin injury sustained against Stoke City.
But when quizzed on Ruffels’ absence, new boss Darren Moore said: “In terms of the injured players, I think Josh [Ruffels] was more of a precaution really. We hope that he’ll be back in contention for the weekend.”
It remains to be seen whether Danny Ward will return to action when the Tractor Boys visit the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday. The striker has missed the past three matches because of an Achilles problem.

“I’d have to see with the medical team with regards to Wardy, where he’s at when we get back, so I’m 50/50 with him,” admitted Moore.
As for midfielder David Kasumu, who tweaked his hamstring in the Stoke draw, Moore replied: “With David [Kasumu], we don’t think David is going to be right for the weekend. His injury will probably rule him out for the weekend.
“I think I’ll probably have more information at the weekend really in terms of where he is with his prognosis because the last two days I’ve just been solid with the team, so we’ll find out more about that, I’m sure, as the week progresses.”
Town will have their work cut out to pick up a positive result in Moore’s first home match in charge. Ipswich sit second in the Championship, having recorded an impressive seven wins from eight matches this season.
But Moore took plenty of encouragement from their second half performance at Coventry. “We feel there’s more to come from them, in the ability that they’ve shown,” he said.
“I don’t think we’ve seen everything from them, there’s more. That will come with more confidence and time spent together and getting to understand and know them.
“As the days and weeks go by, I’m sure they’ll show us more. I said to them ‘keep that commitment and endeavour, going forward’. It’s an ingredient all the top teams have got.”
