How is Obbi Oulare, a former Barnsley player who left in the summer, doing at Lierse Kempenzonen?
In the summer of 2021, Barnsley signed striker Oulare from Belgian team Standard Liege. In the end, though, his time at Oakwell was difficult; he played only twice before being sold earlier this summer.
He spent the first half of the 2021/22 campaign with the Tykes before returning to his native Belgium on loan. He joined RWD Molenbeek in a season-and-a-half-long loan deal, playing six times for the club that time.
Oulare saw his contract terminated by the League One club earlier this year, moving back to Belgium with Lierse Kempenzonen. They merged with KSK Lierse in 2018 after the latter went bankrupt and now play their football in the Challenger Pro League, the country’s second-tier.
Oulare returned to his own nation in search of a new beginning and more consistent playing time after experiencing a few years of playing football on a very limited basis for a number of reasons. In the early stages of the campaign, he already possesses that.
Life at Lierse Kempenzonen
Oulare, who is currently 27 years old, has participated in seven games this year across all competitions. In his first three league games for the team, he managed a goal and an assist while starting the first five games altogether. He was left off the starting lineup for the most recent match against Beerschot V.A., but he’ll be looking to reclaim his spot on the squad.
Lierse Kemponzonen have played six league games so far, winning one, drawing one, and dropping four.
Towering striker Oulare made a promising start to his career as a youngster in Belgium and after some tough years, he’ll be hopeful of putting his Barnsley struggles behind him and coming good at his new club.
