The “Brilliant” star of Aston Villa says, “I thought long and hard” about leaving for the Premier League in the summer, despite being enticed.
Fench outlet Onze Mondial today features a good exclusive interview with Aston Villa star Moussa Diaby.
In the long conversation they had with him, there was obviously a mention of all the rumours that surrounded the winger in the transfer window.
Aston Villa may have won the race by spending €55m to sign Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen, but the 24-year-old had actually been heavily linked to a move to Saudi Arabia as well.
Explaining the situation, he now admits he got tempted by making the move to the Middle East, but ended up choosing for the Premier League in the end.
” I have to admit that I thought long and hard about it. When you see all the players leaving and the financial conditions on offer, you tell yourself that you can quickly put everyone around you in a good situation,” Diaby told Onze Mundial.
“But I also know that you have to live your sport to the full and have no regrets. The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world. I wanted to rub shoulders with the best teams. I’m not denigrating the Saudi league, because I sincerely believe that they are building something very coherent.”
Earlier today, we also covered quotes from Diaby talking about his feelings for Paris Saint-Germain.
The French club is where the winger started his career, and in the same interview, he hinted that there’s an unfinished business at the Ligue 1 side. So that may be something for Aston Villa to watch out.
Since his arrival at the Villa Park this summer, the winger has two goals and two assists in seven appearances.
