Ex-Sunderland man sends message to Newcastle United’s 17-year-old talent
Newcastle United’s Champions League clash with AC Milan was a night to remember for so many, including Lewis Miley.
At the age of 17, Miley was on the bench at the San Siro for a Champions League game against AC Milan. Sadly he was an unused substitute, as the teenager continues to wait for his first senior appearance of the season.
After shining over the summer, big things are expected of Miley. The club took the sensible decision not to loan him out, but Howe has been unable to give the youngster any minutes so far.
But Miley continues to be a part of the first-team group, and was part of the squad that travelled to Italy for their first Champions League game in 20 years.
He may not have featured, but it will have been a wonderful experience for Miley – and that is the message he has received from former Sunderland striker Danny Graham.
Danny Graham’s message to Lewis Miley after Champions League ‘experience’
Following the 0-0 draw with AC Milan, Miley took to Instagram to post a couple of pictures of himself at the San Siro.
It prompted a reply from Graham, who wrote: “What an experience for you mate.”
The 38-year-old’s comment comes just hours after he was partying with Toon fans in Milan. Graham was spotted singing and dancing with fans ahead of the Champions League encounter.
While Graham did play for Sunderland on two separate occasions, he actually grew up a Newcastle fan after being born in Gateshead.
Not only that, but the now retired striker now works for Unique Sports Group. They are the agency who represent Miley and helped him negotiate his first ever professional contract earlier this year
The group also represent Anthony Gordon, Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett.
For Miley, it truly will have been an incredible experience for him on Tuesday night, even if he did not play. But he can expect to feature as the season goes on, as Eddie Howe has big plans for him.
