The Tottenham loanee will return to action in two months, according to the Whites, who revealed this on their official website on September 18. They do not anticipate that he will need surgery.

According to Leeds Live’s Beren Cross, Whites manager Daniel Farke stated during the Whites’ 3-0 victory against Millwall on September 17 that it was “sad news” that the on-loan Tottenham right-back had “done his lateral ligament” and will be sidelined for an extended amount of time.

Although Spence won’t need surgery, it is still a huge setback for the Englishman and his boss as he joined from Spurs just before the transfer window closed.

Ayling will need to maintain his fitness and form because the squad may be short next summer after letting Cody Drameh depart on loan to Birmingham City and needing Sam Byram over on the left.

Spence certainly arrived at Elland Road with much optimism and anticipation despite his struggles in North London last season where he very rarely featured in Spurs’ dreadful campaign.

His performances for Nottingham Forest the season before last certainly marked him out as one of the country’s most exciting young full-backs and he was expected to reach those levels again this season.

However, the Elland Road faithful will now face an unfortunate wait to see him in full-flow in an unfortunate new injury blow for the player and Farke which also now leaves the Whites short of options at full-back with Luke Ayling the only specialist right-back.

What will Farke come up with if the Elland Road veteran also gets hurt given the hectic schedule Leeds has coming up? There is now a dilemma on the Germans’ hands that is definitely untimely.
