Gary Lineker shares four-word verdict as Jermaine Jenas raves about West Ham United transfers on Match of the Day
Gary Lineker shared his verdict on the impressive start to the season for West Ham as Jermaine Jenas has been wowed by their summer signings.

Speaking on Match of the Day on 2 September (1:21), host Lineker said there are “reasons to be cheerful” for the Hammers after the 2-1 victory over Luton Town on Friday (1 September) maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

Jenas has also been impressed by the Irons at the beginning of this campaign, with the pundit predicting a “positive year” for the club following the signings they made during the transfer window.

“They obviously had that incredible European success last year, but the Premier League wasn’t as good as they hoped it was going to be,” said Jenas

“I think with the Declan Rice stuff, they’ve added really top players into their ranks now. The squad is looking solid, they’ve had a great start to the season. I think it’s going to be a really positive year for West Ham fans.

There is an awful lot of positivity flowing around about West Ham at the moment and the pundits have also clearly recognised that in their analysis.

The Hammers couldn’t have really asked for a much better start to the campaign after picking up 10 points from a possible 12, while three of their four games have been away.

The signings have slotted with ease, as James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez already appear to have struck up an excellent partnership in midfield.

There won’t be anyone wanting to get too carried away, but David Moyes would’ve snapped you hand off if he was offered this start a month ago as there were major question marks around how we would compete this season.

The international break perhaps hasn’t come at the best time given the current form, but it will give the Irons boss a chance to work with the players to try and build upon our successful start to the campaign.

In other West Ham news, a pundit has shared his verdict on Gareth Southgate’s “ridiculous” decision to leave out one Hammers star.
