Out-of-favour Ipswich Town man nearing League One loan switch
Ipswich Town winger Kyle Edwards is closing in on a season-long loan move to Oxford United, as per a report from TWTD.
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna said earlier this month that former West Brom man Edwards was poised to leave the club before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
The winger is down the pecking order at Portman Road but has proven himself as a valuable asset in League One before. Now, it seems as though the 25-year-old is heading back to the third-tier with Oxford United.
TWTD reports that Ipswich Town’s out-of-favour winger is poised to join the U’s on a temporary basis.
The loan will last a year, giving Edwards a shot at finding regular minutes away from the Tractor Boys.
He’ll offer Liam Manning another option on either the left or right-wing. Edwards has also played as an attacking midfielder before, so he’ll bring some helpful versatility to Oxford’s attacking ranks.

Edwards looked unlikely to find the first-team chances he desires with Ipswich Town and with little time remaining in the transfer window, a move away could be ideal for everyone involved.
In Oxford United, he’ll be joining a side with high ambitions for this season. They struggled in the 2022/23 campaign but have started well this time around, sitting top of the table. They’ll be hopeful of remaining at the top end of the division and Edwards will be hoping to play an influential role in keeping them there.
Edwards has three goals and eight assists to his name in 63 Ipswich Town appearances. He also played 49 times for West Brom, where he featured in both the Championship and Premier League.
