JAMIE Walker hopes City have answered their critics as they eye Carabao Cup progress.
Walker scored on his return from injury to clinch the 1-0 win over Crewe at Valley Parade.
As the Bantams quickly switch their attention to tomorrow’s cup trip to Wrexham, the Scot believes they have moved on from the heavy loss to Morecambe.
“It’s been a difficult week,” he said. “We’ve come in for a lot of criticism and rightly so.
“We can’t go away from home and get beaten 3-0 and play that way.
“It’s always nice to get a goal at home, three points and a clean sheet. Most importantly it was a reaction from last week.”
Mark Hughes made a late call to start Walker, who had missed the previous two games with a badly-swollen ankle, after Clarke Oduor picked up a knock in training.
Walker added: “It came as a bit of a surprise for me. Obviously, Clarke was injured so that didn’t help the gaffer’s thinking.
“But when I was picked to start the match, I was happy and confident in my ankle. I’m a bit sore now but I think that’s just how it’s going to be for a couple of weeks.
“There was a lot of swelling and my ankle was really fat. But it gets better by the day.
“I got an injection last Tuesday and that’s helped a little bit as well.
“I’ll be fine for the cup tie. It’s another good game and we want to get into the third round where the so-called bigger clubs come in.”
Walker is not bothered by all the hype and excitement surrounding Wrexham with their documentary series and pre-season USA tour.
“I’ve not watched the documentary,” he said. “I don’t really take much interest.
“For me it’s all about us. It’s another football match and we’re looking to go there and win.
“Wrexham will probably be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. It’s not going to be an easy game but it’s one we’re all looking forward to.
“The atmosphere is going to be great. We sell out most weeks away from home so that’s no surprise.
“It’s a chance to get in the third round and then you never know who you might draw.”
