SAD NEWS: Detroit Red Wings Wave Goodbye To Another Star As He Officially Announce His Departure

After going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ole Miss tight end Caden Prieskorn has signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, per a report from Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz. The veteran pass-catcher — and older brother of Michigan tight end Brady Prieskorn — now gets a chance to fight for a roster spot with one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.

Scouting opinions on Prieskorn varied before the draft. NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein gave him a 5.67 prospect grade, projecting him as a late-round pick or a priority free agent. Zierlein described Prieskorn as having the physical tools of an in-line tight end, but lacking the toughness and blocking consistency required at the NFL level. He noted that much of Prieskorn’s receiving production came against zone defenses or through designed plays, and that he struggles to gain separation against man coverage. While Prieskorn possesses reliable hands, his blocking technique and overall aggressiveness need to improve significantly to secure a spot on the roster.

With Detroit’s tight end group becoming increasingly competitive, Prieskorn will have to make the most of his offseason opportunities. Still, the Lions have a strong track record of developing young players, and Prieskorn will have a real chance to prove himself.
