Auburn has added a standout Division II talent to its roster, securing a commitment from Elyjah Freeman, a high-performing freshman from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee. According to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Freeman has chosen to transfer to Auburn after an impressive debut season.

Freeman, a former McDonald’s All-American Team nominee from Wellington High School in Florida, was part of the 2024 recruiting class and quickly made his mark in college basketball. In his freshman season, he appeared in 28 games (starting 25), averaging 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He shot an impressive 46.3% from beyond the arc and ranked 25th nationally in field goal percentage at 58.6%.

After entering the transfer portal at season’s end, Freeman opted to continue his career in the SEC with the Tigers, who are coming off their second Final Four appearance in program history.

Freeman is the fourth portal addition for Auburn this offseason. The Tigers also brought in KeShawn Murphy (Mississippi State), Kevin Overton (Texas Tech), and Keyshawn Hall (UCF), while Emeka Opurum joins from the junior college ranks. As of Saturday, Auburn’s transfer class ranks No. 9 nationally, per 247Sports.
