Amari Williams, a 6-foot-10 forward known for his defensive prowess, transferred from Drexel University to the University of Kentucky in April 2024. Prior to his move, Williams had declared for both the NBA draft and the NCAA transfer portal in March 2024, following Drexel’s early exit from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament.

Despite initial reports suggesting uncertainty about his commitment to Kentucky, Williams reaffirmed his decision to join the Wildcats after a meeting with head coach Mark Pope. He stated, “I was not close at all to going anywhere, I wasn’t close to going anywhere. I knew where it was.”
