OFFICIALLY AGREED: Ex-Duke Basketball Forward Back On Roster

The former Duke basketball forward is officially back on the team.

One-season Duke basketball player TJ Power is ready to move for the second time in his college career.

Head coach Jon Scheyer and his formidable staff made TJ Power an exciting member of yet another impressive recruiting class as he committed to the Duke basketball program in the fall of 2022. However, Power was one of seven scholarship players to leave the team last spring after his rookie year in Durham.

For the 2024–25 season, the former top-20 recruit chose to play for ACC foe Virginia, staying in the same conference as his previous team.

However, Power, a 20-year-old forward, has once again chosen to use the portal in search of a new home for his third collegiate season following yet another season in which he failed to secure much playing time.

Joe Tipton of On3 stated that the 6-foot-9, 216-pound sophomore had put his name for the second consecutive year on the day the portal opened.

Power played in 24 Cavaliers games, averaging just 9.3 minutes per game with 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds. After starting UVA’s first five games, he gradually lost his spot in the rotation.

TJ Power made 26 appearances off the bench during his first year at Duke. In just 6.7 minutes a game, he shot 35.7 percent from outside the arc and averaged 2.1 points and 0.7 rebounds.

Caleb Foster, Power’s old classmate, and the rest of the top-seeded Duke basketball team are getting ready for their NCAA Tournament East Regional quarterfinal matchup with the No. 4 seed Arizona Wildcats on Thursday at 9:39 p.m. ET (CBS).
