The Cincinnati Bengals, notorious for not paying players what they are worth and letting them walk in free agency, seem to be inching closer toward new contracts with both standout wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Multiple reports on Friday morning began suggesting that the Bengals and Chase are working out the finite details of the contract and the numbers have potentially already been agreed to.
The 25-year old stud from LSU is expected to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. He is expected to fetch in excess of $40 million per season. That would lift him near or above Myles Garrett,
who just got $40 million APY with the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals, meanwhile, might be in the $30 million range on the franchise tagged Higgins. Once the small details are starting to be worked on it? That generally means the big issues, such as annual average value and amount of guaranteed money, have already been agreed to. So Chase and the Bengals be getting close to an agreement.
(Our guess is it’s for four years and $41 million per season.) And Higgins should be getting up there, too, even though it seems like just yesterday that these monster deals were simple monstrous problems. Chase attained the receiver’s triple crown last season as led the league in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns
Higgins who it seems is not too happy with team negotiators Mike Brown and Katie Blackburn, is for the second straight year Higgins dealing with having been tagged and his family have taken to social media to voice their discontent. But – maybe – contentment is on the way.
