Under Pete Carroll, the Las Vegas Raiders have finally appointed a defensive coordinator. The next head coach is looking to someone he knows well. However, one who will bring the franchise back.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on Wednesday night, Carroll and the Raiders are formally enticing Patrick Graham to return to Washington. According to NFL source Josina Anderson, Graham was first referred to be the front-runner for the Raiders’ DC post in the morning. Pelissero pointed out that before Carroll and co-owner Tom Brady stepped in, Graham had one more chance.
“Graham had choices, including moving to Jacksonville, once his contract ended. However, Graham’s admirers Tom Brady and Pete Carroll persuaded him to come back,” Pelissero continued.
Graham’s name was even associated with other head coaching positions. He nearly moved to Jacksonville to work for Liam Coen, the new head coach of the Jaguars.
For reasons of continuity, Graham’s reappearance is crucial. The Raiders’ decision to retain one standout player is a plus.
When it comes to getting to know the guys in the locker room, Carroll suddenly has someone to rely on. However, Maxx Crosby gains a lot from Graham’s action.
