Cardiff City should be preparing an advance for Chelsea’s Harvey Vale under the noses of Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion because, with only one week remaining in the mid-season window, they will undoubtedly plan to welcome further recruits after Yousef Salech’s arrival.
Naturally, the pressing need to bring in new players has lessened recently, as Cardiff defeated Derby County in the Welsh capital on Saturday afternoon, extending their winning streak in the Championship and FA Cup to eight games.
With a four-point lead over 22nd-place Portsmouth and a three-point lead over fierce rivals Swansea City, whom they crushed 3-0 in a historic south Wales derby match just last weekend, Cardiff is now up to 18th in the league standings and just three points behind them, all of which helps allay fears of relegation to League One.
The wide-left position is still one that needs attention, but right now it seems like Cardiff needs a little more talent in one or two parts of the field.
