The Millwall youth star’s ideal position is revealed by Alex Neil, who also claims that “he has staked his claim for the next squad.”
ALEX After the 20-year-old scored on his debut last Monday, Neil stated that Ra’ees Bangura-Williams had “staked his claim for the next squad.”
In Millwall’s FA Cup Third Round match against Dagenham & Redbridge, Bangura-Williams was brought on in the 75th minute and finished with a spectacular solo goal to round off the team’s 3-0 victory.
Neil substituted Bangura-Williams for Adam Mayor, a left winger, but believes he would be more effective in a more central position.
Since we were able to roll a wide player in off the line, Neil stated, “I don’t see Ra’ees as an out and out wide player. I think that game suited him.”
Therefore, I believe he is capable of doing it if needed. However, based on how we would use him in the game, he is most likely a central midfield midfielder, either a number eight or even a number ten. That, in my opinion, is perhaps his finest role.
Neil responded, “He’s come off the bench and he’s had an impact in the game in the FA cup against a National League opponent,” when asked if Bangura-Williams would be in line to play against Championship opponents. He did a fantastic job. He has made a claim for the upcoming squad, team, or whatever it is that will be formed.
However, it will be up to him since, as you can see, I have an advantage over the fans in that I observe them in training on a daily basis. That is a major component of ensuring that, if you choose to remain on the team, you practice consistently, demonstrate your worth for the position, and clearly contribute during games.
“So I think you put it all in a big melting pot, and by the end of the week, most people who are able to watch the sessions and games are usually pretty close to each other in terms of who should be named in the starting lineup, and the other guys will obviously have to settle for a spot on the bench.”
