Warriors Exchange Rising Star for Win-Now Weapons in a Proposal
The Golden State Warriors need to hire additional staff immediately because Stephen Curry’s frustrations are becoming more apparent with every defeat.
In times of crisis, drastic measures are necessary.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report suggested a deal that would benefit Curry’s defense and shooting at the price of rising forward Jonathan Kuminga, who will be sidelined for at least three weeks due to a serious ankle strain.
De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanović are given to the Golden State Warriors.
Jonathan Kuminga, Dennis Schröder, Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney, and a 2027 first-round selection (top five protected) are given to the Atlanta Hawks.
Hunter’s version this season is exactly what the Warriors need—a two-way force who has been playing brilliantly—even though Kuminga may have a greater upside.
Hunter is on track to have the most successful (and efficient) campaign of his career thanks to his revised shot diet. Since no modern club has too many dynamic wings with dependable outside shooters, it has also made him an interesting target for any win-now buyer, according to Buckley.
Along with 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists, the Hawks forward is averaging 19.7 points on 47.8% shooting and 43.9% from the 3-point line, all of which are career highs. The NBA’s top player, a 6-foot-8 3-and-D wing with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, is also a proven winner; his game-winning 3-pointer in the 2019 NCAA tournament title will always be remembered by Virginia basketball fans.
Steve Kerr’s System Fits a Hawks Veteran Pair
However, Bogdanović is still making 2.1 baskets per game while shooting a career-low 34% from three-point range. Under Steve Kerr’s system, a change of environment could enable him to regain his reputation as a sniper and tenacious defender.
Neither he nor Bogdanović would be able to fill Golden State’s second-star void, but they both seem like natural fits for the system and might make it function better.
Bogdanović’s ability to create opportunities for himself and his teammates would make Stephen Curry’s life much simpler, while Hunter’s shooting and consistency would make him a better match on the wings alongside Andrew Wiggins,” Buckley said.
Since Schröder cannot be traded until February 5, this transaction could only take place close to the trade deadline.
Steph Curry is furious about the Warriors’ consecutive “no shows.”
Curry has been pushed to the limit by consecutive blowouts.
In the Warriors’ most recent defeat, a 114-98 loss to a Miami Heat without Jimmy Butler, two nights after suffering a 30-point thrashing at the hands of a Sacramento Kings without De’Aaron Fox, he was observed shaking his head and slamming a chair during a timeout.
The Warriors’ humiliating defeats sent them to their lowest point of the season, 18-18, and put them in danger of dropping out of the top 10 Western clubs.
After losing to Miami, Curry told reporters, “It was pretty much back-to-back no-shows.” “These are winnable games against teams that are, for whatever reason, in about the same place in the standings, and that’s the hard part.”
In their previous four defeats, they have fallen short of 100 points. Curry had a direct and insightful response when asked how to improve their faltering offense.
“I really don’t know,” he said to reporters. “We’ll attempt to solve it. However, I don’t currently have an answer.
