As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Sevilla are set to sign Hertha Berlin forward Dodi Lukebakio.
The reigning Europa League champions are close to agreeing a guaranteed €10m fee – including additional add-ons – with Die Alte Dame. The final details surrounding the deal are in the process of being completed.
However, the Belgian international had previously looked set to join Premier League new boys Burnley on a four-year contract after the newly promoted side had a €13m offer with add-ons accepted. Nevertheless, after failing to be convinced by the project explained to him in England, Sevilla have been able to swoop in and sign the mercurial talent.
Last season, Lukebakio scored eleven goals and collected four assists, but it would ultimately be in vain as the capital club would succumb to relegation from the Bundesliga. Nonetheless, this campaign has been unable to offer the Hertha faithful any form of restbite
Three straight defeats in the 2. Bundesliga has left them rooted to the bottom of the table, while club captain Marco Richter rubbed salt into the rapidly opening wounds by departing for greener pastures in Mainz. With Lukebakio’s exit all but confirmed, Suat Serdar is the next in line to flee the German capital.
