Blackburn Rovers star dismisses fears after Man City example

Sondre Tronstad does not fear the risk of burning out after starting every Blackburn Rovers league games this season.

The Norwegian is one of only three players to have been named in every Championship XI this term. Aynsley Pears and Dom Hyam are the other ever-presents in the team.

Tronstad, though, has no worries about running out of steam or tiredness. In fact, he feels at his fittest when he’s put to the test and is loving his volume of action this term.

“I love playing, to be honest. I like to play as many games as possible and that is why I came here,” he explained.
“It gives me energy playing games, I don’t get tired, it’s more in the head for me with my mentality. I know I can play every game for 90 minutes.

Blackburn Rovers head coach John Eustace

“I feel better than in August. Everyone is different but playing more makes me stronger, I feel better in my body.

“Some players, Rodri for example, it’s 70, 80 games and that’s different. But for me, maybe 50? If I played 80, I’d probably say I am tired! Right now, I feel very good.

“It is a terrific group that embraces everyone and wants to learn and progress.

“We have a terrific team spirit and atmosphere. Everyone gets on, players, staff and with the fans. We are all united.

“It does feel special and it shows on the pitch and it’s really massive.”

Tronstad has paired Lewis Baker in the previous four games having played all but one alongside Lewis Travis. It is a middle unit where everyone consistently pushes each other, in the eye of the stand-in captain.

“I think we’ve had only one game before where Trav was suspended against Hull and Baks played,” he continued.

“It’s fantastic to play with him as well. He’s done a wonderful job when he’s came in and he’s a lovely boy. He has played so many games and he’s quite experienced so he understands how to play.

“It’s quite comparable. Everyone is different yet he understands what he needs to accomplish in the team and his job and qualities. We’re developing that relationship.

“You’ve also got Bucko, who is a pretty talented player who comes from the bench occasionally. There are talented players behind Trav and myself. It’s really good.
