After Colt McCoy left the program in 2010, the Texas Longhorns spent nearly a decade searching for a quarterback to bring them back to national prominence. In his second year as head coach, Steve Sarkisian secured Quinn Ewers, a highly rated quarterback recruit and transfer from Ohio State. Despite facing challenges in his first season, Ewers guided Texas to a Big 12 title and a spot in the College Football Playoff in 2023. Additionally, the Longhorns welcomed five-star recruit Arch Manning to succeed Ewers as part of the 2023 recruiting class.

Known for his talent in recruiting elite quarterbacks, Sarkisian has also signed five-star prospect Dia Bell, the son of former NBA player Raja Bell, who is set to join the program in 2026. For Bell, he is on track to have his best season yet at American Heritage in Plantation, Florida. He is only 272 yards away from surpassing his passing total from last season, even though he has played just six games so far. Additionally, he has thrown 20 touchdowns this year, matching his total from 12 games last season. The future looks very promising for Texas, which many consider to already have the strongest quarterback roster in the country.
