SAD NEWS: More Calls On Top Prospect To Retire From NFL, Details Disheartening.

Shannon Sharpe has advised Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to focus on his health and consider retirement after suffering another concussion. In contrast, Dez Bryant has taken a more forceful position, arguing that the NFL should intervene and make the decision for Tagovailoa.

During the third quarter of the Dolphins’ 31-10 defeat to the Buffalo Bills, Tagovailoa ran with the ball on a fourth-and-four play. As he reached the first down marker, he was hit hard by Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

The impact caused Tagovailoa’s neck to snap back before he fell to the ground, and his subsequent hand movements raised immediate concerns. Within six minutes of being taken off the field to the locker room, it was confirmed that Tagovailoa had sustained a concussion and would not return to the game.

Tagovailoa’s history of concussions, including three confirmed incidents since he joined the NFL in 2020, and his previous admissions about contemplating retirement after past concussions, have sparked a growing call for him to consider his future and family and retire from football.

NFL legend Shannon Sharpe expressed his concerns on X, stating, “I really hope Tua is okay, but he seriously needs to consider retiring. I hate to say this, but his concussions are worsening, and he’s a young man with his whole life ahead of him.”

Former NFL player Dez Bryant has urged the league to take action, saying on X, “That’s it. NFL, do the right thing. Tua has had way too many concussions. He needs to retire for his long-term health.”

Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez also weighed in during Prime Video’s postgame show, suggesting, “I’m leaning towards retirement. To me, it’s a clear decision. Brain health is critical and can have long-term effects. It might be time for him to move on.”It's bigger than football, and it's time for Tua Tagovailoa to retireFootball analyst Nick Wright commented, “Tua is guaranteed $93 million and could potentially receive $167 million if he retires due to injury. He overcame severe concussions to lead the league in passing and secure that contract with the Dolphins. After tonight, he really needs to think seriously about retiring.”

The Dolphins have a ten-day break before their next game, an away match against the Seattle Seahawks. Miami would have hoped for Tagovailoa’s return, but the league’s concussion protocols might prevent him from playing.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel discussed the situation after the game, saying, “Right now, it’s about getting a thorough evaluation and taking it one day at a time. The timeline is not our primary concern. We need to assess his condition and focus on his well-being. We’ll have more information on Friday and will proceed from there.”
