Toronto Maple Leafs Signs 2024 Stanley Cup Champion To Tryout Contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have invited Stanley Cup champion Steven Lorentz to their training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) basis, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on September 3. Friedman mentioned on X, “As previously discussed with @TheRog590, it appears that Stanley Cup winner Steven Lorentz will join Toronto on a PTO.” Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has offered Lorentz this opportunity to showcase his skills and vie for a spot on the team’s roster for the 2024–25 NHL season. A PTO does not guarantee a roster spot, so Lorentz will need to demonstrate his value and secure a standard contract to make the Maple Leafs’ regular-season lineup. At 27, Lorentz recently won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers. Although he played only 38 games in the regular season with one goal and three points, he scored two goals in 16 playoff games, contributing to the Panthers’ historic championship win. Despite his modest scoring, Lorentz’s championship experience and potential to add depth, particularly to the fourth line, could be valuable to the Maple Leafs.Anthony Duclair Has Become Sharks Go To Guy For Support - The Hockey News San Jose Sharks News, Analysis and MoreThe Carolina Hurricanes selected Lorentz with the 186th pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, but he never established a permanent spot in their lineup.
