QPR have given a trial to defender Casey Shann after he was released by Brighton earlier this summer, as per West London Sport.
He did play for both their U18 and U21 sides across the 2021/22 and 2022/23 season, but earlier this summer he was released and subsequently made a free agent.
The Slovakian defender is yet to find a new team, and last evening he was playing for QPR’s development squad in a match against Coventry City, which they won.
Under the radar
The 19-year-old has still got plenty of potential to grow into, and he could be a decent addition to Championship side QPR.
But, it will be argued Ainsworth’s squad need reinforcements who can make an impact straightaway amid their apparent league struggles.
The second tier appears more fierce in competition than ever and Ainsworth has his job cut out for him at Loftus Road. With ten days remaining of the summer window it will be interesting to see what kind of moves QPR make between now and deadline day.
On a free transfer there are definitely worse options than Shann. He could well benefit from playing at a lower level where he may be able to make an impact at senior level.
QPR have one win from their opening three outings and last weekend suffered a narrow defeat to Ipswich Town who have started the season on top form and up next for the R’s is a trip to the south coast to face Southampton this weekend which will undoubtedly be a tricky fixture.
