SMB secured their second victory of the conference by defeating the Blackwater Bossing, 128-108, in their Governors’ Cup matchup at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.
Jordan Adams led the Beermen with a stellar performance, scoring 50 points along with 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. He made a significant impact during the crucial third quarter, scoring 16 of his 50 points.
SMB head coach Jorge Gallent remarked after the game, “We didn’t play San Miguel basketball in the first half. We weren’t sharing the ball; everyone was trying to score individually, which wasn’t our intended style.”
Other notable contributions for San Miguel came from CJ Perez with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists; June Mar Fajardo with 13 points; Jericho Cruz with 12 points; and Kris Rosales and Vic Manuel, who each scored 10 points.
After falling behind by 10 points early in the third quarter, 63-53, the Beermen regained their rhythm and launched a 16-to-2 run, which was capped by a four-point play from CJ Perez.
San Miguel capitalized on their momentum, extending their lead to as much as 21 points in the fourth quarter after June Mar Fajardo hit a three-pointer. This surge secured their unbeaten record in two games and left the Bossing still searching for their first win in three attempts.
Troy Rosario led Blackwater with 25 points and six rebounds, but the team played without an import following their release of Ricky Ledo. Sedrick Barefield supported Rosario with 16 points, while James Kwekuteye, Jewel Ponferada, and Christian David contributed 11, 11, and 10 points, respectively.
