Breaking: Former Texas Longhorns Star Calls It A Career In The NFL After 12Years.

The former Texas Longhorns and NFL quarterback has officially declared his retirement from professional football after a 12-year career.

Selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

The 37-year-old quarterback enjoyed a standout collegiate career with the Longhorns. McCoy earned several prestigious awards, including the Big-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2006, the Big-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2009, and was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist.

During the 2009 season, McCoy led the Longhorns to a perfect 12-0 record, secured the Big-12 Championship with a win over Nebraska, and advanced to the 2010 National Championship Game against Alabama. However, his time at Austin was marred by a right shoulder injury sustained in the first quarter of that championship game.

Drafted as the fourth quarterback overall, McCoy followed Sam Bradford (No. 1), Tim Tebow (No. 25), and Jimmy Clausen (No. 48). He holds the record for the most passing yards in Texas Longhorns history and played for several NFL teams, including the Cleveland Browns (2010-2012), San Francisco 49ers (2013), Washington Commanders (2014-2019), New York Giants (2020), and Arizona Cardinals (2021-2022).Texas star, NFL QB Colt McCoy retires from football, gets TV job - ESPNPrimarily serving as a dependable backup throughout his career, McCoy had an 11-25 record as a starter.
