Hull City take big step closer to a new manager appointment

The Tigers are poised to make an official announcement regarding their new leader. Hull City have taken significant strides towards appointing Tim Walter as their new head coach after ongoing discussions over the weekend brought his selection closer. Walter, who recently met with owner Acun Ilicali in Germany following the departure of Liam Rosenior, continued talks with Ilicali in Monaco on Saturday to finalize their plans for the upcoming season.

The club aims to make a formal announcement this week, with Walter eager to commence his preparations swiftly.

Hull City must inform their out-of-contract players of their contract status by the upcoming Saturday, while recruitment decisions are deferred until the appointment of the new manager. The 49-year-old German, previously associated with Bayern Munich’s renowned academy and holding managerial positions at Stuttgart and Hamburg, has been without a club since departing HSV in February. He expresses enthusiasm for working in England, particularly with City, who narrowly missed the Championship playoffs this season. Vice-chairman Tan Kesler highlighted Walter’s appeal, citing his ability to reshape playing styles and attract fans during his tenure at Hamburg. Kesler emphasized Walter’s suitability for Hull City’s ethos, emphasizing his leadership qualities and experience in the Bundesliga.
