‘Creeping’ – Millwall boss Joe Edwards offers bleak reality check after loss

Millwall currently occupy a position just above the relegation zone following their defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Millwall manager Joe Edwards has acknowledged the challenging situation his team faces in their bid to avoid relegation from the Championship following their 2-0 loss to Sheffield on Saturday afternoon.

During the first half, Wednesday secured a two-goal advantage, with Dutch winger Anthony Musaba orchestrating both goals, assisting Canadian international Ike Ugbo for the opener and scoring himself to double their lead.

Despite dominating possession in the second half, Millwall couldn’t stage a comeback, allowing their opponents to close the gap to just four points in the table.

With six defeats in their last seven league matches and a draw against Preston North End, Millwall’s position in the league has significantly declined.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Edwards commented post-match, “Southampton will be a tough game. We are clearly down that part of the league. It is important we get points on the board.”

He emphasized the unpredictability of football and the need for belief and unity within the team to navigate through this tough period.

The victory provided a significant boost to Wednesday’s survival hopes, despite remaining in 23rd place. Manager Danny Rohl highlighted the importance of the win, praising the team’s performance and their ability to execute their game plan effectively, especially away from home.
