Jim Goodwin insists Dundee United delivered their finest performance in weeks, despite suffering a bitter loss against Raith Rovers. Scott Brown’s stunning goal sealed a thrilling match witnessed by the largest crowd at Stark’s Park since 1997. Raith Rovers’ dramatic 2-1 victory handed United their first Championship defeat of the season.
“We’re pleased to remain at the top of the table, and I believe we showcased some excellent football tonight—our best in weeks,” stated Goodwin. “Despite not getting the result we deserved, we displayed bravery on the field. However, there’s still plenty of football ahead of us. As I mentioned before the game, tonight wouldn’t determine everything, and that remains true.”

Zak Rudden, on loan from Dundee, broke the deadlock for Rovers, but Goodwin expressed disappointment, stating, “I’m informed the first goal was offside, which is a major setback. We’ve faced some significant decisions against us in the league.”

However, Goodwin acknowledges that Dundee United should have been more clinical, as players like Moult, Tony Watt, Glenn Middleton, Ross Graham, and Kevin Holt all had promising opportunities.
“It’s frustrating that we didn’t display more composure in critical moments,” lamented Goodwin. “We believed we could have been leading at halftime, and as the second half progressed, Raith appeared content to defend deep and counter. Unfortunately, we didn’t capitalize enough on possession in the second half.”
